Traditional jig saws have a flat base, called the 'shoe',
on the bottom that rides against the surface of the material being cut. Gourds are neither flat nor smooth,
so a saw designed to work on wood does not always produce the desired results on gourds. The flat shoe will cause the blade to raise and fall from the gourds surface as you cut and because the curviture of the surface your cutting is rounded, it is often hard to see where you are cutting.

The 'Gourd Saw ^TM' was specifically designed for working on gourds. The 'flat shoe' has been replaced with a new style 'ball shoe'. This round-on-round technique not only keeps the blade fully inserted in the gourd to make cutting easier and more accurate, but permits you to cut in place that heretofore where unaccessable - the neck of gourds.

The 'Gourd Saw ^TM' is the only saw that gives you absolute, one-hand control over your cutting. The On-Off Switch - little red button that can be seen on the bottom - turn the saw on when depressed and off when released. If your making intricate cuts, you don't want to let go of your work to turn your saw off, nor do you want to take a chance of an unplanned cut made while withdrawing a running saw.

All saws advertised as 'miniature', 'mini' or 'hobby/craft' are three-quarters (3/4) the size of a standard saw. The Gourd Saw ^TM is one-third (1/3) the size - much, much smaller. This is why the Gourd Saw ^TM like all MicroLux tools, are referred to as Palm-SizePower Tools.
